Adrienne and Pam reported on IAM activities as related to the realignment of goals and committees. White County Historical Society awarded an IAM Grant. Congratulations!!
  3. Marketing Committee Report

Adrienne reported that the draft of the directory is ready for proof reading. Per discussion of the brochure, the need for a point person was identified. Mike Jones was recruited and volunteered to serve with Dona in development of a brochure, which will meet all the standards required to be eligible for distribution in the state visitor centers. Mike Jones identified Debbie Moore as a resource person with valuable experience in this matter and he will take appropriate action and provide progress reports. Lori again encourages the use of the SIAM List Serve in most all communications.
  4. Technical Assistance Committee Report

    None available
  5. Development Committee Report

Lori reported that Jo Nast has been relieved of her Monday evening obligations and will again be attending SIAM Meetings. Jo has much to offer and will be a valuable resource to boost the activities of the Development Committee.
  6. Priorities

    • Brochure development continues as a high priority item.
    • Program development via workshops and speakers: Exhibits design and alternative topics discussed such as tourism by Debbie Moore at the April meeting and photo shop techniques by Bob Morefield at the October meeting.
    • Defining the Roles of People: Officers and Zone Directors have the mandate of membership recruitment. This must be accomplished by emphasizing the benefits of membership. The value of membership must be made evident to individuals and local museums via publicity and getting the word out. Effective program development will be integral to this mandate.
  7. Roundtable Discussion: Future Meeting Times

The issue of meeting times has been raised several times in the past. There are several members with time and travel conflicts, which have been a source of difficulty in getting to the meetings in a timely fashion. After a thorough debate of the meeting time issue, an alternative meeting time was offered for consideration. A proposed meeting of the Board at 4 p.m. followed by a General meeting at 5 p.m. on a trial basis for the next meeting was moved by Mike Jones and seconded by Adrienne. The motion carried. It was also agreed that members would contribute $5 at the next meeting to assist Lori in the postage expenses of the fliers and other mailings. With the advent of a cash flow from membership dues, it is anticipated that the need for these start-up contributions will cease. Appreciation was extended to Lori and The University Museum for their generosity and sacrifice on the behalf of SIAM in the matter of postage and office supplies.
  8. Host Recognition

Appreciation was expressed to Adrienne and The John A. Logan College Museum for hosting the meeting and providing an excellent repast.
  9. Adjourn

The next meeting will be on 24 April 2006 at The John A. Logan Museum, 1613 Edith Street in Murphysboro. Motion to adjourn by Janet.

Respectfully submitted,

Mike Brush Secretary
