Meeting Minutes October 24, 2005

News from the Illinois Association of Museums
- Adrienne Barkley Giffin stated that the IAM board approved the language in SIAMÍs bylaws relating to IAMÍs role in SIAMÍs dissolution.

Marketing Committee Report
Dona Bachman stated that the general feeling is to have a museum trail brochure separate from the Art Trail. Adrienne reported that the work on the directory is ongoing.

Technical Assistance Committee Report
The discussion at the November meeting will be a brainstorming session about raising and using funds for SIAM.
Development Committee Report
This committee needs members. If you are interested or know someone who is, contact Lori.

Administrative Committee
Adrienne moved and Pat Brumleve seconded to adopt the proposed mission statement. Motion carried.
Adrienne moved and Dona seconded to adopt the proposed bylaws. Motion carried.

Nominating Committee
Dona presented a draft 2006 slate of board and officer nominees. The final slate will be presented and voted on at the November meeting. Votes will be taken only from those present.
The incorporation paperwork will be prepared after the election. To cover the processing fee required for incorporation, donations will be collected at the November meeting.
The group agreed that each museum should bring a ream of paper to contribute to the SIU Museum to assist with costs for mailings.
The group also discussed bringing small gifts to the November meeting for exchange.

Roundtable Discussion: Earned Income from Museum Stores
Jeanna Showmaker and Pam Madden gave a presentation about their museum store and led the round table discussion.

The next meeting will be on November 28 at the White County Historical Society in Carmi.
