The workshop will be held at the University Museum, probably form 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Cost will probably be $15 per person. Logan College Museum and The Science Center have turned in a list.

Discussion by Bruce Davis
OERD is seeking planning funds to consider a proposal of Southern Illinois as a National heritage Area. He anticipates hearing about funding in July.

Southern Illinois Association of Museums Marketing Workshop
The University Museum
Southern Illinois University-Faner Hall, Carbondale, Illinois
Saturday, October 16, 2004, 9:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m.

October 16, 2004

9:30 a.m.

Morning Coffee / General Session

10:00

Chambers and Tourism, Bureaus look at Museums
Does your Chamber know about your museum?
Break
What does Tourism need to advertise your museum?
How should you advertise your museum?
What makes a good brochure?
Question and answer

Noon

Lunch

1:00 p.m.

The Newspaper Media looks at Museums
What does the newspaper need to know?
Break
How to write a good press release
Question and answer

Submitted by the Marketing Committee members:
Dona Bachman, chair, Adrienne Barkley Giffin; Pam Madden; Pat Brumleve, May 24, 2004
Anticipated cost (for breaks, lunch, copying): $15

If you find broken links, have questions or concerns with the site, please email the webmaster.
